In 2007, I went with Mihoko on a Saori Tour of Japan. It was a wonderful trip and we got to visit many Saori studios as well as see many sites in Japan. The people that we met were so welcoming and I loved the trip – it was great to be there with someone from Japan who could do all the translations, knew the places to go and did all the organizing! When I went, I thought it was a once-in-a-lifetime trip, but people kept saying “When you come back to Japan….” and I thought no, this is my only trip. After the third time I heard that I started to believe it.
I would highly recommend this upcoming trip to anyone who can make it. I recently heard from Mihoko and Nat that they are still accepting people for the tour even at this late date.
Here is the info:
The 4th Saori Improvisational Hand-Weaving Study & Friendship Tour of Japan is from June 23-Thursday, July 7 with Saori Worcester. More information here (where you will also see some photos of me on the trip!) Please contact them directly if you are interested.
Lately, I’ve been thinking a lot about Japan – not just because of the earthquake and tsunami, but because I want to plan another trip for more SAORI – soon!
