Poncho

Ever since I got the book “Self Discovery Through Free Weaving”, I have wanted to make one of the ponchos in it.

Well, I finally did…

Saori Poncho

I like that the fabric is on the diagonal and that it is so easy to make. One long length of fabric is cut into two pieces and then sewn back together with simple seams.

Comfy to wear too…

hi Terri, this is a beautiful poncho; And the model is showing it so well:)looks like not to much cutting and sewing is involved so none off the weaving got lost.

Thanks Jeannine! Yes, it is very easy to make. One long piece of cloth is cut into two pieces and that’s all the cutting. The neck opening is made by just leaving part of a seam open. Selvedge edges are used in most places so there is no hemming.

    Saori origami clothing!

    It’s YOU!
I can see you in this poncho.
I have one of these, too.
I made it long time ago…..
I like how you take pictures, too.

The poncho is absolutely beautiful, Terri! And, I love your photos… I can hardly believe the difference in our weather! We are -40 and lower, with feet and feet and feet of snow….. ugh.
Are you able to wear the poncho under a coat or is it the top layer? (When it’s this cold, I am seriously into many many layers! LOL)
    big hugs

Thank you so much Chiaki & Noreen!

The poncho is really a top layer because of the sleeves - it would be a great warm garment made in warm wool! That may be a great plan - hmmmmm….

I like layers, even here in our MUCH milder weather. Tonight we have snow too - but it is supposed to melt already tomorrow. -40 is just way too cold - hope it warms up for you soon!

    Happy Weaving,
    Terri
